Walking in the old town
Down a dirty street,
Or living in the hills
With the stones lying at your feet.
Breathing clean air
Or moving through grime,
All things change
Given enough time.
Life all over
Or barely begun,
We all still live
Neath the Moon and the Sun.
The winds reach the city,
As well as the hill
And after we’re gone
They’ll be blowing still.
Jump up and live again.
Mortality
Is such a small price to pay.
For awareness we have
Of our living today.
And the gift of awareness
Is all that we own,
And all that we’ve offered
Is all we have sown.
If awareness has touched you,
And you know what I mean,
When I say it’s still real,
Even if it’s unseen.
And didn’t our feet
In those ancient rhymes,
Walk on the green hills
And not in the grime.
Jump up and live again.
Give jade to the water
And flowers to the air.
Give a house to the holy
So the holy can live there.
Give food to the old ones
And smoke to the drum.
Bright cloth and turquoise
As a gift to the Sun.
Touch all that you see
And all you do not,
With a spirit of beauty -
I know you have not forgot.
Light fires for the living
And fires for the dead,
Let the feast be prepared
And the Spirits fed.
Jump up and live again.

Strange Birds
03:14
|
|||
She rides, forgotten now
We scarce recall her name
And hold scant memory
Of all that was her fame
Strange birds they with her fly
Who wake the silent dead
But, if the living hear
Do slumber them instead
To a lord these birds were brought
To sooth his final night
Before a marriage feast
Which would cut short his life
And in these twilight times
These songs again are heard
To steal our wakefulness
As the dead are stirred
Blood ran once, so life would sustain
From bones lain in the earth, the life would come again
But now she tells me, with her song low to the floor
This is not her land, nor her birds any more
She rides, forgotten now
We scarce recall her name
But these are still her hills
And still she does remain
Her birds, still fly with her
They fly both far and long
And sing enchantments in
The lands they still belong
Blood runs still, so the life is sustained
From bones lain in the earth, the life has come again
And now she tells me, as her song become a roar
This will be her land, and her birds for ever more
She rides, forgotten now
We scarce recall her name
She rides, forgotten now
But still here the same

Roll Up
03:17
|
|||
Roll up the Earth
And pull down the Moon,
Better days are coming soon;
Anyway, that’s what I’ve been told.
Pull down the Moon
And roll up the Earth,
Split your sides with all this mirth,
See this freak show for what it’s worth,
It’s days are numbered too.
Circle the Sky
And keep a watch on the Stars,
Just incase they stray too far.
Better keep them where they belong
Or they might get away.
Watch all the Stars
And circle the Sky.
Keep us safe from asking why.
From all those big questions let us shy,
It’s easier that way.

New Dance

New Dance
The same old dancers came here once,
And they danced so fine.
The same old dance was danced here once,
Throughout time.
Same old trance caught us once,
Kept us tied.
Same old ties bound us once,
Believe all the lies.
I do not know the new dance,
But it’s not how it was.
I do not know the new dance,
But it’s not how it was.
Not this time.
Kids they watch the old ones come,
And they grow up in their dance.
They learn all their steps so perfectly
Cos their steps were built to last.
They’re tranced,
They old before their time,
Their spark is sent away.
They become what the dancers says,
Till the end of their days.
I do not know the new dance,
But the old one can’t last,
I do not know the new dance,
But the old one can’t last,
Much more time.
I saw a new face in the crowd today
Which seemed to come from another place.
I did not see them look at me,
And I did not see their face.
Just reflections in their mirror,
A glimpse of a new view.
No perfect realisation,
Just a hunch at what to do.
I have a step to a new dance,
The old ones lost.
I have a step to a new dance,
The old ones lost.
My daughter, she’s a princess,
And yours is just the same.
Your son, he is a prince to you,
So long may they reign.
And if we deeply hold to that,
Then why do we accept,
The old ones, the old dance,
Their music and all of their steps.
Teach your kids a new dance,
Today’s the day.
Seize the day

Eve of May
03:35
|
|||
Eve of May
Some are born the seventh child,
And some before or after.
Some are born in sorrow
And some are born in laughter.
How was it for you?
Some are born in winters grip.
And some in summers sweetness.
Some are born in autumn’s gold,
And some in springs new promise
How was it for you?
Well, another person’s kinship,
Is a thing in life you can not own,
But mine to you I freely give,
And with it all these seeds we’ll grow
And winter will surely come
As summer comes in with this day.
But every year I will wish you well,
Always, on the eve of May.
Some are born to gallant deed,
And some to life’s misfortune.
Some walk always with the sun,
And some always with the moon.
How was it for you?

Crows and Angels
05:57
|
|||
My mother said,
that I should stone the Crows, stone the Crows,
That were everywhere that I went.
To this day, I watch them,
Black against the sky above,
But to be honest,
I’m not really sure what it was that she meant.
But I still watch them,
Circling over head,
Seeing what I see.
I still watch them,
Hanging on the wind,
Hanging on the breeze.
I still watch them looking down on me.
My mother said,
That I should always trust the Angels,
On their shiny shiny wings.
That they would always watch me
Watch over me, protect me,
Keep me safe from nasty, unspecified things.
Put their wings all around me, and keep me safe,
Keep me snug and warm.
Walk with me when things got rough,
When days were dark and scary,
That they would always
Protect me from the storm.
Got a Crow on my shoulder,
And an Angel on my arm,
Some times they kind of get all mixed.
Crows and Angels,
Angles and Crows,
Angles and Crows,
And Crows and Angels,
My mother never did tell me,
Really which one of them was which.
I have a Crow
Who flies with me on
Shiny, shiny, shiny wings.
Watches me, and looks out for me,
He watches me, and looks out for me,
Flies with me.
A Crow who teaches me,
lots of things, lots of things.

Forebears/Messin'
08:25
|
|||
Hear me
This my friends is a sacred ground.
All our forebears lived
And walked here once.
In trust they aimed to live
The life they choice,
Held up higher
By their own dead and gone.
Passing on in trust once more to their young,
Sacred Earth from which they had sprung.
Standing on the shoulders of the dead before them,
The young see further than those gone before.
Hear me,
This my friends is a sacred ground.
Given to us in trust TO pass on once more.
Our children one day
Will pass it on in there turn,
To those who next will
Come in line to Earth.
We are a Link in a whole chain of lives,
Building upwards, to gain a view.
Your actions go before you always bear that well.
We will be forebears soon,
That much is true.
I haven’t messed much with the past,
I haven’t messed much with the present,
But I have messed with the future,
As the past has messed with me.

Come in here and have a taste
Yeah what's one more hopeless case
When your shortwave dies and there's no one to listen
And stars go cold in your solar system
Well her lips were red and her hair was brown
I felt like the luckiest kid in town
She said I'll follow you boy to the ends of the earth
I said "i'm not going that far for what it's worth"
And I really love to see you like this
Moonlight dripping off your fingertips
Off your fingertips
Well put all your love where it hurts the most
Expect a little visit from the Holy Ghost
When your shortwave dies and there's no one to listen
And stars go cold in your solar system

I forgot who I am, as I tumbled through my life.
Forgot that I was noble,
As I walked into my trouble and strife.
Forgot to fill my space up,
And to walk in my own way.
Forgot the things that mattered,
Seems like each and every day.
But I remembered, I’m not diminished, not me.
You’re noble too, oh, don’t throw yourself away.
Hold on to that voice that you hear inside,
And listen to what its got to say.
You can fill up your own space,
Each and every molecule.
You can own the way that you walk,
And the song that you sing is your tune.
You’re not diminished, not you.
Every beat of your heart,
And step that you walk.
Can take you down roads,
Where the fear stalks.
So I praise the artists for walking alone,
Down the long road to the unknown.
And I praise the dreamer,
Who once showed to me.
That being small doesn’t set you free.
And I praise the darers,
Who won to choose life.
Who stood in their right size,
To give us insight.
We’re not diminished, not us.

If you walk towards the higher ground,
On the lighter edge of town.
With a song deep in your pocket,
And a chance to sing out loud.
Well, a waiting time lies before you,
You have to wait to watch the rising Sun,
As it rises like a phoenix bird, with a new life.
When a new life has begun
Starlight, look upon me,
Starlight show my way.
Herald change for me,
Starlight herald day.
You are watching, like a fire with out an end.
You will witness, all the prayers I send.
Find a place till the morning time,
A place of earth and stone.
Many have stood before you here,
This place was once their home.
The daylight’s glow will start soon,
And the time is close at hand.
So sing beneath the starfield sky,
So the old ones understand.
That starlight sees my hilltop.
Starlight sees my town.
It sees me singing, it hears my sound.
It sees the changes, all the changes,
That are happening deep in my soul.
It sees the moment,
That my heart starts being whole.
This is the view from the Morningstar.
