Marriage Bed

from Liminal by Nicholas Breeze Wood

/

lyrics

I, my friend, am weeping
Is it in joy, or is it in pain?
My fingers clench in subtile grief
For things so different, yet the same
I sense a key, but where’s the door?
What comes anew? What was before?
And mystery once more I thee wed
And bring thee to my marriage bed

You, my friend, are weeping
Is it in joy, or is it in pain?
Here we stand twixt Earth and Sky
Knowing we can not explain
But I’ve your hand like times before
We found ourselves on foreign shore
Lands anew, we’ve found again
Though stars familiar do remain

I my friend am laughing
Is it in pain, or is it in joy?
Sensed with utmost open bliss
Things long past I now deploy
In our hands we hold the line
As past and future realine
To take up their allotted space
Within this ancient nuptial place

You, my friend, are laugh-ing
Is it in pain, or is it in joy?
The rational must be put aside
Knowing is all I can employ
Sun and Moon both kiss our brow
And whisper they all things allow
Past and future do unite
Upon this endless wedding night
